Log-books, 1806-1821.

Two log-books kept by Edward Norris as captain of vessels sailing out of Salem, Mass., on trading voyages. The first was the ship Mary Ann to Copenhagen and Calcutta, 1806-1807. The second was the schooner Dispatch Packet to Martinique in 1820. The latter left Martinique on 15 Nov. 1820, was badly damaged in a storm on 8 Jan. 1821, returned to the Virgin Islands on 21 Feb. 1821, and was condemned and sold at St. Thomas. She was carrying a cargo of molasses from Martinique. Typescripts only.
